Q. What is Laser Hair Management & RejuvenationTherapy?

A. Laser Hair Rejuvenation is a “NEW” non-surgical scientific approach to treating hair loss, thinning hair, baldness and problems associated with the scalp.   Hair Rejuvenation is a medically tested effective and proven method using Low Level Laser Energy, or “soft” laser light to effectively treat and control problem hair loss.

The Laser Hair Rejuvenation non-surgical treatments utilize a device containing therapeutic low level lasers developed in Europe for the treatment of hair loss and diseases of the scalp.   The treatment delivers light energy directly from secured laser positions designed to increase the blood flow to the scalp.   The laser functions on the same scientific principal of that of photo biotherapy where the laser light stimulates cell metabolism and causes damaged cells to be repaired.   This breakthrough technology has recently been featured on national newscasts across the USA.   Physicians are praising this technology as an effective treatment to combat hair loss.

The laser treatments have an overall good effect on all types of hair.   It is recommended for men and women at any age.

Q. When can you expect results?

A. In most cases noticeable improvement is seen in the first four to six months of treatment.   If you have a high rate of hair loss it is possible that you may see a reduced rate after only a few treatments.   Of course, results will vary with the individual, and strict adherence to your protocol schedule is required to get the best results.   One of the main advantages of our Laser Light Therapy Lasers' is that they give a steady and consistent application of laser light that is engineered for perfect intensity.

Q. Is Laser Hair Rejuvenation safe?

A. Yes! The Laser Hair Rejuvenation device which is classified as a Certified Class 111A cosmetic laser is recognized by the FDA and is approved for cosmetic use in the United States and Canada.

The energy produced by the photos does not have the thermal component to cause thermal injuries to users or operators.   Laser Hair Rejuvenation energy does not change or alter molecular structures: it stimulates the body’s mechanism to repair and heal itself.

Q. What are the benfits of Laser Hair Rejuvenation?

  • Stops the progression of hair loss in 85% of the patients (clients).
  • Stimulate rejuvenation of hair.
  • Repairs and improves hair shaft quality resulting in a 25% increase in volume (thickness).
  • Dramatically prolongs the life of hair color and perms.
  • Relieves irritating scalp conditions (psoriasis etc.)

Q. Have the benefits of Laser Hair Rejuvenation been scientifically measured?

A. Yes!   A double-blind placebo controlled study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Laser Hair Rejuvenation by comparing it with a placebo laser.

All patients with the exception of one in the laser treated group showed a complete stop of hair loss.

All patients except three showed a clear rejuvenation of hair with a reduction of at least one category in the Norwood Classification.

Out of 18 patients, 14 showed an increase in hair thickness and all 18 showed improvements in the general hair shaft quality.   The results showed no improvement in the placebo group or any adverse effects of the treatments.

The present double-blind study confirmed by histological examination, revealed that rejuvenation of new hairs can be achieved in the most middle-age and younger females and males with typical male pattern baldness, when the scalp is irradiated with Laser Hair Rejuvenation for 20 minutes twice a week for 5 weeks.   The treatments are pain free, completely safe without side effects.

Q. Is it expensive?

A. The cost to the customer will vary according to your local economy. Clients pay between $200 and $300 per month, rather than paying per treatment, which makes the Laser Hair Rejuvenation service affordable for the customer. Take home products are all included in the client's overall cost.

Q. How long and how often?

A. Each laser treatment session lasts 30-minutes, and is given twice a week. (It is necessary to allow one day between your laser treatments.) You will relax in a private treatment room while sitting under the laser and read or watch TV during the session.

Q. Does it work for everyone?

A. This safe and effective treatment  is equally beneficial for men and women, with absolutely no side effects, however Individual results will vary. A maintenance program is recommended after the desired results are attained. A simple hair and scalp evaluation can assist in determining the likelihood of success of the treatment.

Male Hair Loss
Male pattern baldness is a genetic condition inherited from either parent. For men experiencing hair loss of this type, the genetically affected hair follicles are susceptible to a byproduct of testosterone called dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, which causes the hair follicle to shed the normal hair and produce thinner, shorter, colorless hair. For men experiencing male pattern baldness, peach-fuzz hair makes the scalp look thinner. Over time, the miniaturized hair follicles atrophy and die causing permanent hair loss. In the male balding areas, there is no peach-fuzz hair and the scalp looks tight and shiny.

Baldness is an irreversible condition. Once the hair follicle has atrophied, it is gone forever. This would be similar to losing any other body part, and since we are not able to reproduce our body parts, there are no male hair-loss products or remedies that can force the body to produce a new hair follicle.

Male Hair loss Prevention and Treatment
The good news is that male pattern hair loss can be prevented if treated early. Further hair loss and follicle miniaturization is preventable, and the hair-loss process can be reversed from 1 to 5 years by transforming the miniaturized hairs back to normal hairs. This process is also called hair regrowth, although one cannot technically regrow any hair but only reverse the miniaturization process. Here are the currently available ways of preventing and reversing male pattern baldness.

Norwood/Hamilton Scale of Male Hair Loss

Female Hair Loss
By some estimates, 50% of all women in Canada will suffer from some form of hair loss by the age of 50. Similar to men, in more than 90% of cases, the cause of hair loss in women is due to androgenic alopecia, or female pattern baldness.

What is Female Hair Loss?

Female hair loss is a genetic condition inherited from either parent. The genetically affected hair follicles in women experiencing female hair loss are susceptible to a byproduct of testosterone called dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, which causes the hair follicle to shed the normal hair and produce thinner, shorter, colorless hair. This peach-fuzz hair makes the scalp look thinner, and over time, the miniaturized hair follicles atrophy and die, causing permanent hair loss known as balding. There is no peach-fuzz hair in balding areas, and the scalp looks tight and shiny.

Baldness is an irreversible condition. Once the hair follicle has atrophied, it is gone forever. This would be similar to losing any other body part, and since we are not able to reproduce our body parts, there are no female hair loss products or remedies that can force the body to produce a new hair follicle.

Causes of Female Pattern Hair Loss

Women, just like men, inherit the gene for thinning hair from either parent. In women, testosterone is produced in the adrenal glands and the ovaries. Although testosterone gets converted to DHT in a woman’s body, it cannot cause female hair loss due to the protective effects of estrogen and progesterone. These hormones reduce DHT production and block DHT’s attachment to the hair follicle as long as they are present in adequate amounts. Any condition that can cause a decreased production of estrogen and progesterone or overproduction of DHT can cause thinning hair in genetically predisposed women. Hair loss in women can start at any age after puberty, but in most cases it occurs with menopause. The normal production of female hormones drops significantly during menopause, lowering a woman’s natural protection against thinning hair.

Hair loss in pre-menopausal women indicates an abnormal hormonal imbalance that requires medical investigation and appropriate treatment.

In post-menopausal women, hormone replacement therapy restores the normal hormonal levels and stops the process. In cases where hormonal replacement therapy is not recommended, the only other available medical option is Rogaine 2%. Although Rogaine activates the follicle’s growth phase, it has no effect on the DHT production that eventually leads to hair-follicle atrophy.

Microdermabrasion

Q: What is Microdermabrasion?

A: Microdermabrasion is a skin rejuvenation procedure which smoothes wrinkles and fine lines, improves the appearance of scars, reduces the size of pore, and helps improve age and sun spots. It can be described as an intense mechanical exfoliation treatment which removes the top layer of the skin.

Q: Does Microdermabrasion hurt?

A: No, it does make your skin sensitive to the sun and elements after, but sunblock and moisturizers will protect and hydrate the new skin.

Q: How does Microdermabrasion work?

A: A controlled spray of very fine aluminum oxide is applied to the surface of the skin, removing the upper layer of the epidermis. While emitting the spray, the device simultaneously works to clear excess oxide crystals and the skin's cellular debris. This process helps the skin cells to stimulate new collagen, resulting in increased skin firmness and tone, revealing a fresh youthful looking face.

Helps to reduce:

Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Scars That Have Resulted From Acne, Surgery or Even Chicken Pox

Enlarged Pores

Age Spots

Q: What To Expect After a Microdermabrasion Treatment?

A: There is no downtime involved with this procedure, though microdermabrasion patients are asked to wear sunscreen after treatment, as skin will be extra sensitive to light. Immediately following treatment, the skin will have a slightly pink hue, creating a fresh look. Self-conscious patients can easily camouflage the redness with makeup. Skin imperfections are diminished and the skin seems softer and rejuvenated. The best results come to patients who continue a series of microdermabrasion treatments over time.

Q: Is MicroDermabrasion similar to a chemical peel?

A: Yes, both treatments rid the skin of the top layer of cells. MicroDermabrasion is done by physical means while a peel uses chemicals to remove surface cells.

Q: Will Microdermabrasion treatments give an improvement in the skin texture?

A: Yes, a series of treatments will make the skin smoother, softer, and with less fine wrinkles.

Q: How many treatments are needed?

A: To obtain optimal results, a series of 6 rejuvenating treatments spaced 1 week apart is recommended. Continued improvement is best achieved with maintenance treatments every 4 to 6 weeks.

Skin Photorejuvenation

Q: Does the skin rejuvenation or hair removal process hurt?

A: Both of these processes feel like an elastic being 'flicked' on your skin. There is slight stinging while it is being done, but nothing after.

Q: What Is Photorejuvenation?
A: It is the process of using light on the skin's surface to effect changes beneath the surface of the skin. Blood vessels, brown pigment, hair follicles may be removed and wrinkles may be reduced with this treatment. Photorejuvenation is a procedure intended to rejuvenate the skin on the face, arms, legs, neck, and chest. It is performed in a series of treatments of intense pulsed light, or IPL.

Photofacial is perfect for treating:

Sun Damaged Skin

Red Spots and Facial Veins

Rosacea

Acne

Brown and Age Spots

Wrinkles and Fine Lines

Redness & Flushing

Q: How Does skin rejuvenation work?
A: Photorejuvenation is performed with a series on Intense Pulsed light treatments. The light penetrates the top layer of skin and acts upon the underlying layer of the dermis. The light energy seals small blood vessels, destroys melanin pigment, destroys hair follicles, and stimulates cells to produce new collagen which reduces wrinkles. Treatments are scheduled 3-4 weeks apart.

Q: What To Expect After a skin rejuvenation treatment?
A: Results should become especially noticeable after several treatments, as wrinkles, redness, and age spots fade away. Patients also enjoy a reduction in pore size, and an overall better skin tone and texture. There is virtually no downtime associated with photorejuvenation.

Some patients experience slight redness after their IPL treatment, usually lasting less than 24 hours.  Occasionally, age spots will darken first and then fade away in about a week.

Q: What are the side effects of photorejuvenation?

A: Photorejuvenation treatments are very safe.  Common side effects include: mild redness (which usually can be covered with make-up) and darkening of age spots (which can last up to a week before fading away).  Rare side effects include: burning, blistering, and extra pigmentation on the skin which usually resolve in a week.

Q: How long will the changes from photorejuvenation last?
A: After a series of 3-6 treatments, the improved appearance should last for 2-3 years with use of good home care products.

Q: What are the skin rejuvenation treatments like?
A: A Cold gel is applied to the area to be treated. A slight stinging sensation is felt. At first, the skin may be flushed but these effects will generally fade within 24 hours.  A topical anesthetic may also be applied 30 minutes prior to treatment to help reduce any mild discomfort if necessary.

http://www.refirme.com

Q:How does skin tightening work?

A: ReFirme™ features the revolutionary elōs™ combination of Bi-Polar Radio Frequency and Light energies to precisely heat the dermal tissue within the targeted treatment area. The precise heating ensures a safe, effective, fast treatment with no downtime. Fine wrinkles are reduced, noticeable lifting can be observed on sagging skin and the texture of your skin becomes smoother, more luminous and toned. Unlike conventional lasers and IPL's, ReFirme uses significantly less optical energy, ensuring enhanced safety and a virtually painless procedure.

Q:Does skin tightening hurt?

A: No, there is some tingling possible on sensitive skin, but in general very little is felt on the skin surface.

Q: Who is a good candidate for skin tightening?

A: Anyone with mild to moderate skin laxity who is not yet ready for the expense or the down time of surgery is a good candidate.

Q: What areas can be treated?

A: Skin tightening can be used anywhere on the body. Loose skin in the face, neck and jowl area are the most popular procedures. Laxity in the abdomen, under the arm, knees and buttocks are also frequently requested areas.

Q: How long does the procedure take?

A: The skin tightening procedure can take anywhere between a few minutes to an hour, depending on the area treated.

Q: What are the treatments like?

A: First the skin is cooled, then the infrared heat is applied. Patients will feel a gradual heating of the treated area, then cooling is applied again. This protects the surface of the skin and also allows more effective penetration of the infrared light. It is one of our most comfortable procedures.

Q: When will I see results?

A: With our revolutionary technology results will be seen in 2 phases. The initial phase consists of tightening of the collagen that is already present. This result is seen immediately! The second phase occurs more slowly as the body initiates a natural wound-healing response and creates new collagen which provides long term tightening. Tightening will continue to improve for four to six months after the last treatment, then will stabilize.

Q: How many treatments are needed?
A: Many patients see some results after one treatment, however four to six treatments are generally recommended for best results. Treatments are generally recommended 2 to 4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments and the use of Dermalogica Home Care Products are recommended to maintain and enhance results.

Q: When can I resume my normal activities?

A: There is absolutely no down time associated with this procedure! A few people may have mild redness but this usually resolves in a few hours. You can return to your normal activities immediately, although as always sunscreen should be used.

Laser Hair Removal

Q: What is Laser hair removal?

A: Laser or Intense Pulsed Light may be used safely and effectively to destroy hair follicles beneath the surface of the skin. The treatment may be performed on any area of the body and on any skin type if the correct source of light is used. Treatments are spaced several weeks apart. Common areas of treatment for men and women include the legs, chest, face, abdomen, back, bikini line and underarms. http://www.elos.com

Q: How Does laser hair removal Work?

A: Because of the varying sizes of treatment areas, one session of laser or IPL hair removal can take anywhere from about 15 to 90 minutes to perform. Patients often report a mild stinging sensation, similar to a rubber band, snap during treatment, but various methods of cooling may be used during treatment to help reduce this. Anesthesia is generally not needed.

The light, which is directed at the hair follicles in the area of treatment, penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the follicle beneath the hair. As the light is absorbed, it is converted to heat, destroying the follicles's ability to grow new hair without harming the surrounding skin.

Laser or IPL hair removal needs to be performed in stages because hair grows in stages. It is only in its active stage of growth that hair can be removed successfully.

Q: What To Expect After a hair removal Treatment?
A: Patients can continue on with normal daily routines immediately following treatment, but do need to keep the treated areas out of the sun. Some redness may be existent, but should only last several hours, or occasionally up to a couple days. This is easily camouflaged by clothing or makeup.

Q: Is hair removal temporary or permanent? And How many treatments will it take?

A: Hair removal is both temporary and permanent. During a short series of treatments, patients will rarely have to shave, tweeze, or pluck. However, if the treatments stop, some of the hair will return in a few months which will be finer and lighter than before. The more treatments, the less hair will ultimately come back. Hair grows in cycles. Some hair follicles are actively growing while others remain in a dormant phase. The laser or IPL hair removal eliminates only hair follicles in the active growth phase. Approximately four weeks later, additional hair follicles enter the growth phase. Usually 4 to 6 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart, are necessary before all hairs can be treated.

Q: Are the treatments safe?

A: At RnR we use state of the art elōs™ Technology laser hair removal, it is FDA approved for hair removal. Treatments are non-evasive and very safe. Rare complications include burning, blistering, and extra pigmentation. All of which will usually resolve in a few days to a few weeks.

Q: Do laser or IPL treatments cause cancer?

A: No, the light is in the visible range and has never to shown to produce cancers of the skin or any other organ.
