Q: What is skin tightening?

Q: How does skin tightening work?

A: ReFirme™ features the revolutionary elōs™ combination of Bi-Polar Radio Frequency and Light energies to precisely heat the dermal tissue within the targeted treatment area. The precise heating ensures a safe, effective, fast treatment with no downtime. Fine wrinkles are reduced, noticeable lifting can be observed on sagging skin and the texture of your skin becomes smoother, more luminous and toned. Unlike conventional lasers and IPL's, ReFirme uses significantly less optical energy, ensuring enhanced safety and a virtually painless procedure.

Q: Does skin tightening hurt?

A: No, there is some tingling possible on sensitive skin, but in general very little is felt on the skin surface.

Q: Who is a good candidate for skin tightening?

A: Anyone with mild to moderate skin laxity who is not yet ready for the expense or the down time of surgery is a good candidate.

Q: What areas can be treated?

A: Skin tightening can be used anywhere on the body. Loose skin in the face, neck and jowl area are the most popular procedures. Laxity in the abdomen, under the arm, knees and buttocks are also frequently requested areas.

Q: How long does the procedure take?

A: The skin tightening procedure can take anywhere between a few minutes to an hour, depending on the area treated.

Q: What are the treatments like?

A: First the skin is cooled, then the infrared heat is applied. Patients will feel a gradual heating of the treated area, then cooling is applied again. This protects the surface of the skin and also allows more effective penetration of the infrared light. It is one of our most comfortable procedures.

Q: When will I see results?

A: With our revolutionary technology results will be seen in 2 phases. The initial phase consists of tightening of the collagen that is already present. This result is seen immediately! The second phase occurs more slowly as the body initiates a natural wound-healing response and creates new collagen which provides long term tightening. Tightening will continue to improve for four to six months after the last treatment, then will stabilize.

Q: How many treatments are needed?
A: Many patients see some results after one treatment, however four to six treatments are generally recommended for best results. Treatments are generally recommended 2 to 4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments and the use of Dermalogica Home Care Products are recommended to maintain and enhance results.

Q: When can I resume my normal activities?

A: There is absolutely no down time associated with this procedure! A few people may have mild redness but this usually resolves in a few hours. You can return to your normal activities immediately, although as always sunscreen should be used.
